Vudu coming to Panasonic Blu-ray players – High-definition video streaming service Vudu has been adding a surprising number of partners to its service this year, and it’s just landed another: beginning November 24, owners of Panasonic’s 2010 line of Viera Cast-enabled Blu-ray players will be able to tap into the Vudu streaming service. There is no separate fee to tap into the Vudu service, although Vudu customers have to pay rental fees for TV and movies they want to stream: prices range as low as $0.99 with some movies available for as little as $2; new releases can run as high as $19.99 and $24.99. Customers new to Vudu on Viera Cast will get a $5.99 credit, so in many cases they’ll be able to watch their first HD selection for free.
“Connected TV will continue to become an increasingly important feature for consumers and Panasonic is working tirelessly to build upon the already robust entertainment and connectivity experiences our Virea Cast customers can enjoy,” said Panasonic North America VP, Merwan Mereby, in a statement.
The Viera Cast partnership marks another high-profile partnership for Vudu: last week, the service launched on the Sony PlayStation 3. Vudu has also announced deals that put it on Sharp Internet-connected TVs and the Boxee Box. ( news.yahoo.com )
